Explain Everything Compressor App Reviews
Now it is a five. Thank you for your updates. Explain everthing was already a five for me now the compressor is also. Thank you once again Ok, I have increased my rating to 2 stars since the compressor no longer crashes. Unfortunately when I import a project into the compressor from Explain Everything some of my images are now transparent and you can see what is behind them. Getting better but not there yet. Thank you for the update. Price is high for something that keeps crashing. I havent been able to do one compression so I am still using my iPad which defies the purpose of the app. I am hoping for an update so that I may change my rating but I havent gotten a reply yet. Explain Everthing is wonderful app on the iPad, I was just hoping the same could be said about the Compressor for the Mac.
So quick
Oh my it compresses so much quicker than the iPad. Thank you thank you for creating this app. Youre saving me hours in the long run.
It worked great for one of my projects - compressed it in a very short amount of time. The other 2 projects I queued did not compress, in fact after 17 hours of waiting the app crashed. I reloaded and tried to comrpess again and let it run over night and 20 hours later was frozen. I want to give it 5 stars because it has so much potential, however if it takes longer and crashes compared to the iPad, I might as well compress on the ipad itself!
Would have given it more if there were better directions getting to my Mac from my iPad. I had to email to my drobox then to my mac. Once that was done it took about 20 minutes for a presentation for my Bio class. Uploaded with success. I am happy. will be using it all the time for my Flipped classroom
I will contact customer support and see what becomes of it. If it gets resolved, I will be sure to update this posting, but as of right now, this is a completely nonfunctional piece of software. The farthest Ive gotten is 7 seconds into a compression before it crashes. 7 SECONDS! I cant even begin to assess the viability of this app, since it simply DOES. NOT. WORK. I am running a 2 GHz Intel Core i7 MacBook Pro with 8 GB of RAM, and my projects were created on an iPad 3. Both devices are 100% up to date with software updates, so there should be no issues there. It simply does not work! Like I said, if this gets resolved, Ill happily update my review.
This app has so much potential; too bad it simply DOES. NOT. WORK. Everytime I try to compress something, it crashes after a certain period of time. It is extremely frustrating. I remember the first time I tried it and it worked - I was so happy and thought, "that was $15 well spent". But ever since, it has not worked on a single project that I created. It crashes every time. I want my money back.
Well, I just paid $16 for something that doesnt work. If it compresses my videos then Ill change this review. Update: Still no luck. Save your money.
I’m a teacher that used this for this first time after using the Explain Everything app for awhile. First video (only 12 minutes long) did not compress correctly and took about 25 minutes to compress. I don’t have time, effort, or patience to try it again for something that cost $14! Don’t bother with this app, and I’m tempted to stop using Explain Everything for the Ipad too!
Responsive Support
Their support team is really responsive (usually within 24 hours, often much quicker!). Send them an email if you are having any trouble!
I started flipping my classes last year, and I use Explain Everything nearly every day, and the iPad app is just excellent. However, file sizes tend to be a little large, especially if you are adding video; as a result, you really need to reduce the file size - hence the compressor. Problem is, as much as I love the app, and I really do, the app should be designed with a compressor built in - having to buy a separate app to reduce the file size is aggravating. Nevertheless, I bought the compressor, it does work, it reduces the file size, and definetly speeds things up as you move files from the iPad to your laptop/desktop. I just don’t like having to buy two apps when one should have the ability to compress built in.
I bought this app to convert the videos I make on my iPad into .mp4 without having to tie up my iPad during conversion time. The ability to choose various compression settings is a bonus. I haven’t had any problems to keep me from giving this app 5 stars. Yes it would be awesome if it was free but then again, I didn’t have to buy this app. I wanted this app to make the video process easier and I got what I paid for.
4 attempts to process one file and the program has yet to successfully complete the processing. It crashes before right before the file is done every time. I want a refund.
Works well. Early versions had a few glitches, but it seems to work great now. The iOS app can encode the files, but it takes quite a while and the iPad isn’t much use while encoding is happening. I send the explain everything file to my desktop using DropBox and encode on my Mac Pro. Then upload for streaming.
